About Us
Gaelscoil na Laochra was established by the Department of Education and Skills in September 2015 in Birr following a growing demand for Irish-medium education in the locality. The model of education we promote is that of immersion, where students receive their education – inside and outside of the classroom – through the medium of Irish. We are a co-educational primary school with a multi-denominational ethos which caters for boys and girls from Junior Infants to Sixth Class. Gaelscoil na Laochra is the only Gaelscoil and the only multi-denominational school in the Birr area. Gaelscoil na Laochra places great emphasis on fostering a sense of community within the school where teachers, parents and students work in partnership with each other.
